Trust Litigation Attorney

Location: San Mateo, CA (Hybrid) Job Type: Full-Time About The Opportunity Our client is seeking an experienced Trust Litigation Attorney with several years of focused experience handling trust and estate-related litigation matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with a strong background in trust litigation who can independently manage matters, develop effective litigation strategies, and provide high-quality legal representation to clients. Key Responsibilities Manage trust litigation matters from initial assessment through resolution. Represent clients in disputes involving trusts, estates, trustees, beneficiaries, and fiduciary issues. Conduct legal research and analyze complex issues involving trust and estate law. Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, briefs, and other litigation documents. Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts as appropriate. Develop litigation and case strategies based on the facts and applicable law. Negotiate settlements and participate in mediations and other dispute-resolution proceedings. Appear at hearings, conferences, and court proceedings. Work closely with clients, experts, and other legal professionals throughout the litigation process. Maintain organized case files and meet deadlines and billing requirements. Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Active California Bar membership in good standing. Several years of experience handling trust litigation matters. Strong knowledge of trust and estate litigation principles and procedures. Experience with pleadings, motion practice, discovery, depositions, and settlement negotiations. Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills. Excellent communication and client-management abilities. Ability to manage matters independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff. Strong attention to detail and case-management skills. Preferred Experience Experience handling matters involving: Trust disputes Trustee and beneficiary disputes Breach of fiduciary duty claims Trust interpretation and administration disputes Estate-related litigation Contested probate matters Financial and asset disputes involving trusts and estates Mediation and settlement negotiations Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of handling trust litigation matters and be comfortable taking ownership of cases, communicating directly with clients, developing litigation strategies, and representing clients effectively throughout the dispute-resolution process.
