Truss Builder 1
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Stacks roof truss packages according to size and job number
- Bands roof truss packages for transport to the jobsite
- Reads the production sheet to verify lot number and quantity is correct and tags are correct for load
- Safely loads and uses a nail & staple gun
- Operates the hydraulic stacker. Sorts and stacks per side, by job
- Reads and understands production plans on sheathing gables for up, down, full gable, partial gable
- Understands and safely uses the finish press on all jack trusses
- Understands and safely uses the suspended staple guns
- Reads and understands plans for proper placement of plates
- Secures plates to truss joints using a hammer and belt holder
- Positions trusses in yard accordingly without slowing down the truss builders
- Pulls correct plates for trusses
- Documents all plate changes
- Understands and safely uses the gantry and truss lifters to move truss to finish press line
- Cleans up as required for the work area
- Understands truss component markings
- Stacks truss component in correct place and on the correct cart
- Checks carts for missing components by comparing to component list
- Accurately makes truss tags for carts
- Limits truss components per cut sheets
- Moves carts to staging area in preparation for assembly
- On-Time Performance
- Present at workstation wearing personal protection equipment and ready to work at starting time
Skills, Knowledge And Abilities
- Can accurately read and understand a tape measure down to a 16th of an inch
- Knowledge of common building materials used in residential, multi-family and commercial construction
- Knowledge of component manufacturing process used in residential, multi-family and commercial construction
- Attention to detail, takes pride in quality of work
- Efficient and able to complete assignments within a given deadline
- Strong verbal communication skills
