Trucking Lead
About the role
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for coordinating trucking operations for aggregate material deliveries, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with all applicable regulations. This role manages drivers, schedules, equipment utilization, and coordinates with dispatch and plant operations to meet customer and company objectives.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate trucking activities and assist with dispatching needs as required.
- Monitor truck availability and maintenance needs, coordinating with mechanics and drivers.
- Ensure adherence to California and Nevada DOT and CARB regulations, including hours-of-service, weight limits, and vehicle inspections.
- Maintain accurate records for driver logs, permits, and compliance documentation.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and enforce company safety policies.
- Lead, train, and support drivers and mechanics to maintain high performance and safety standards.
- Address driver concerns promptly and professionally in coordination with the Dispatch Manager.
- Work closely with dispatch and plant personnel to align trucking schedules with production and delivery timelines.
- Adjust schedules to accommodate changes in demand, weather, or equipment availability.
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports on trucking operations, including mileage, fuel usage, and delivery performance.
- Manage fuel ordering and management for all sites.
- Track and report any incidents, delays, or compliance issues.
Requirements
- High School Diploma – some college preferred.
- Class A CDL with double and triple endorsements required; must have a valid driver’s license.
- Minimum 3–5 years in trucking operations, preferably in aggregates or construction materials.
Skills
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations (CA & NV), fleet management, and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Attention to detail required.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in computer software programs (Excel, Word, Project, Heavy Job, The Dispatcher).

- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.

- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Subject to outside working conditions.
- At times will be working around large construction equipment; must be safety conscious.

Pay
Base Salary Range: $54,700.00 - $82,050.00. Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
