About the Role

Provide day-to-day supervision of the Truck Shop department in coordination with the Live Haul Manager. Oversee a team of four employees: three mechanics and one cage repair person.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all employees and equipment involved with the truck shop.
  • Assign, complete, and inspect all work orders.
  • Be fair and consistent with all employees in performing their jobs.
  • Utilize D7i to order and maintain parts inventory and track equipment units (trucks, trailers, loaders).
  • Complete a daily roster report to track employee attendance.
  • Manage employee performance and any related problems using the Company’s Progressive Discipline Policy.
  • Ensure all vehicles and equipment are in good and safe working condition.
  • Ensure that inspections are completed timely and are in compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Constantly monitor equipment and maintenance schedules.
  • Prepare trucks and ensure equipment is ready to move/operate.
  • Account for all employees and ensure they arrive to work when scheduled.
  • Complete paperwork and file reports when jobs are finished.
  • Monitor ongoing shop work and inspect work as required.
  • Input data into D7i.
  • Assess situations and make decisions for a plan of action, even under pressure.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees, both verbally and in writing.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in truck shop operations.
  • Demonstrated vehicle maintenance skills.
  • Demonstrated decision-making skills.
  • Ability to read and respond to emails.
  • Efficient use of D7i.
  • CDL License and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts or more as required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Be on call 24 hours / 7 days a week.
  • Capable of getting into and out of trucks and loaders.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to respond quickly in times of breakdowns.
  • Able to read weather situations and adjust scheduling as needed (e.g., icy conditions requiring chains on trucks or loaders).
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Outlook and D7i.
  • Must be able to read and write in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or Certificate from Technical College in a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of truck shop experience.
  • Solid computer skills, including experience with Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and D7i.
  • Previous Truck Shop Management experience.
