Truck Shop Mechanic-1st & 2nd Shift

Stone Express, a division of the H&K Group, Inc., is seeking self-motivated, organized, and professional 1st and 2nd Shift Truck Mechanics to repair and maintain electric, diesel, and gasoline vocational trucks.

Responsibilities

• Perform all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
• Read job orders and observe/listen to trucks or equipment in operation to determine malfunctions and plan work procedures
• Install new ignition systems, align front wheels, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts
• Replace gas or diesel engines
• Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and equipment, and adjust
• Lubricate and service vehicles
• Fabricate special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to schematic drawings
• Perform collision repair, sand, prep, and paint
• Complete all standard maintenance on trucks and equipment and ensure state inspection requirements are met for cars, trucks, and trailers
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school in diesel mechanics or a related field OR 2 years of related experience and/or training
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
• Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain within one year
• Clean driving record
• Customer service and teamwork skills
• Basic mathematical skills
• Willing and able to work a 1st or 2nd shift schedule
• Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

Preferred Qualifications

• 4 years of related experience and/or training
• State Inspection license
• Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
• OSHA, MSHA, or other relevant safety certifications

Physical Demands

• Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, climb, balance, and crawl
• Frequently required to stoop, crouch, kneel, use hands to finger, feel, and grasp
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds

Work Environment

• Noise level is loud at times
• At times required to work outdoors in all environments
• Hours regularly exceed 40 in a week and 8 in a day

Pay

$18–$35 per hour, based on skill set
