Truck Service Technician 3+

Full-time position located in Oklahoma City, OK.

About the Role

The Level 3 Diesel Technician is a skilled technician capable of handling a wide range of mechanical repairs and performing basic to intermediate diagnostics. This senior-level position requires more than four years of experience and/or demonstrated job-relevant knowledge and skills. A Level 3 Technician has broad knowledge of the field’s standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures, and relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This role is self-starting and requires minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Model, promote, reinforce, and reward consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with company Vision, Values, and Mission.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose complex engine malfunctions and failures with direction and minimal supervision.
• Perform detailed engine and related equipment repairs on trucks and trailers with direction and minimal supervision.
• Disassemble, inspect, determine parts required, and reassemble to factory specifications within Technical Repair Groups (TRGs).
• Provide quality control and assurance inspections of completed tasks, including road testing.
• Use computers and related software to assist in diagnosing and reprogramming engines.
• Complete documentation for service reports, timecards, parts requisition, and returns.
• Interpret and utilize information from operating, maintenance, and service manuals/bulletins, including online resources.
• Operate equipment and vehicles with all necessary licenses and certificates.
• Adhere to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
• Maintain all company equipment, tools, and vehicles in good, clean, and working order.
• Communicate job progress to supervisor and customer as needed.
• Work overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs.
• Project professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance.
• Act as a mentor and coach to lower-level Technicians.
• Complete all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training.
• Maintain an average rework of less than 0.5%.
• Ensure a positive average variance consistently.
• Work safely at all times and adhere to all applicable safety policies; comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Require regular and punctual attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program.
• Minimum of four years of experience.
• Completion of Levels 1 & 2 curriculum pathway requirements as outlined in the Leveling Description Guide.
• Has met ProTech training requirements for preceding Technician levels.
• Ability to learn and model HOLT’s VBL Culture.
• Must own and maintain the necessary tools to efficiently perform the job.
• Completion of the HOLT Truck - Tech Level 1-3 International Alignment Training Module.
• Minimum 26 billed hours per week (65% proficiency).
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• CDL – Class A or B.
• ASE – Medium/Heavy Truck Certification.
• AC Certification.
• Brake System Certification.

Physical Requirements

• Significant amount of time spent standing.
• Constant movement and use of hands, requiring good manual dexterity.

• Ability to react to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and visually inspect work.
• Ability to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.

• Lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Occasional kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling, reaching, and balancing.

Work Environment

• Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts.
• May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity.
• Frequently works in an enclosed vehicle or equipment.
• Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment.
• Exposure to high noise levels.
• Works in extremely bright or inadequate lighting.
• Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment.
• Exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings.

Travel

Up to 5% travel or overnight stays, including travel to other stores that require help during times of heavy workloads.
