Truck Service Technician

About the role

Perform a variety of duties relating to the upkeep and maintenance of company transportation equipment.

Responsibilities

• Wash tractors and inspect units for needed repairs (e.g., non-working lights, flat tires, nails in tires).
• During winter months, ensure electrical plugs are connected to tractors.
• Shovel snow in walking areas as needed.
• Assist with loading mailbags when requested.
• Change tires, perform lubrication, and handle other maintenance tasks not typically assigned to First Class Mechanics or parts personnel.
• Maintain a clean wash bay and orderly shop; empty trash cans as needed.
• Wash trailers inside and out, ensuring rear doors are lowered to avoid damage to wash brushes.
• Use caution with interior washer; rewash if necessary and use a pressure washer when needed.
• Wash all wheels and visually inspect wheel hubs for oil leaks; tag out-of-service equipment for repairs if leaks are found.
• Learn to drive and operate tractors and equipment safely, with safety as the top priority.
• Complete weekly progress evaluations.
• Fill out required paperwork (e.g., wash sheets, work orders) and enter completed work into the TMT system.
• Perform all duties with honesty and integrity.
• Complete other duties as assigned by supervision.

Requirements

• Ability to reach, lift, pull, and push heavy equipment or objects.
• Ability to operate work-related aids, such as truck wash equipment and power tools.
• Must adapt to a changing work environment.
• Exposure to potential hazards when working with power equipment.
• Work conditions include temperature-controlled shop environments and outdoor settings.
• Mental alertness and good vision are necessary for safe and accurate completion of tasks.
