About the role
The Truck Mechanic II is an essential member of the fleet maintenance team, ensuring safe, federally compliant, and cost-effective equipment through preventative and predictive maintenance. This role also involves training Truck Mechanic I employees.
Responsibilities
- Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs diesel trucks and other company equipment.
- Performs preventive and general maintenance on company equipment.
- Maintains clean and orderly workspace, company equipment, and facility.
- Completes recordkeeping and documentation for all repairs.
- Assists in training and development of entry-level mechanics.
- Fabricates tools, parts, and equipment for company operations.
- Familiarizes self with company equipment to troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Attends training as prescribed by management to maintain job proficiency.
- Uses equipment and resources safely and proficiently.
- Ensures compliance with company standard operating procedures.
- Partners with colleagues to determine best practices, minimizing equipment downtime and route interference during repairs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- 5 years’ experience as a truck mechanic or in a fleet setting required.
- Basic Microsoft Office and computer skills required.
- Automotive/Diesel mechanics degree and/or manufacturer CBT training course certificates are preferred.
- Knowledge of preventative, predictive, routine, non-routine, and emergency maintenance for diesel and gasoline-powered equipment is preferred.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Regional travel is required.
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
