Truck Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products as our highest priority.
• Move trailers as needed throughout the plant for loading, unloading, and staging for deliveries.
• Build, rebuild, and repair parts of trucks and trailers as required.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or other breakdowns or failures on trucks or trailers.
• Read precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, voltmeters, digital multi-meters, calibrators, and other electronic diagnostic tools, all accomplished according to standard operating procedures in support of safe operation and environmental integrity.
• Drive trucks on the highway to analyze problems, evaluate work performed, position equipment correctly in the shop, and shuttle equipment.
• Perform maintenance on the Wichita fleet of truck tractors and trailers.
• Utilize verbal and written communication to interact with dispatch, peers, and supervisory personnel.
• Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team.

Requirements

• High School diploma or completed GED.
• Process Technology Degree OR minimum of 2 years relevant work experience (e.g., production, loading, or maintenance) in a chemical plant or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in math, reading comprehension, and mechanical reasoning with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work a rotating shift; weekends; holidays; overtime; and respond to callouts.
• Ability to read, write, and speak in English.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Physical requirements: Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs, walk, bend, and stoop. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
• Good working knowledge of SAP (desired).
• ASE Certified or equivalent (desired).
• Tank Trailer Repair Experience (desired).
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) (desired).
