Truck Driver (Sparks, NV)

About the Role

Transport finished goods to and from production departments, including loading and unloading trucks, performing daily safety inspections of tractors and trailers, and general warehousing functions as needed. Deliver VELUX products to dealers, homeowners, job sites, or provide inside delivery in a timely and professional manner. This position may also assist customers with stocking shelves, setting up displays, and answering questions about VELUX products. Understand and follow Safety Laws and DOT Regulations. Requires driving a box truck, tractor with trailer, or tractor with flatbed with the proper Class A CDL license.

Responsibilities

• Drive truck safely and comply with all state and federal laws.
• Transport finished goods from production departments.
• Unload trucks and replenish stock.
• Receive stock into the SAP system.
• Route deliveries to maximize efficiency and comply with DOT Regulations.
• Operate straight trucks, tractor-trailer combinations, or tractor flatbeds based on delivery requirements.
• Perform and complete daily pre-trip and end-of-day vehicle inspection reports; report defects to site Supervisor.
• Load materials based on routed stops.
• Deliver to customer’s place of business, home, or job site.
• Record signatures on iPad and/or Delivery Note paperwork.
• Log start time, driving, stopping, breaks, and end time on ELD device.
• Report customer complaints to VELUX Management.
• Review open deliveries with site Management prior to loading.
• Pick up approved returned items from customers; contact Management for approval on unapproved returns.
• Schedule Preventative Maintenance for trucks, trailers, or flatbeds through the leasing company, including cleaning.
• Direct driver helper to load and unload truck as needed.
• Work in the Distribution Center in various departments as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required; experience with straight trucks and tractor-trailers.
• Valid driver’s license with no major moving traffic violations.
• Enrollment in the FMCSA Drug Clearinghouse.
• Two years’ experience driving a Commercial vehicle with a Class A License preferred.
• One to three years of experience in shipping and receiving preferred.
• Forklift driving experience preferred (VELUX provides Forklift Certification).
• Working knowledge of computers; SAP experience beneficial.
• Basic understanding of the VELUX product line preferred.
• Good communication skills and willingness to work with others.
• Positive and professional appearance.
• Capable of lifting, reaching, stooping, climbing with weights up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform essential functions assigned to the position.
• Compliance with all company rules of conduct, safety regulations, policies, and FMCSA regulations for commercial vehicles.

Pay

Hourly pay rate: $23.42 - $29.28.

Schedule

6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
