About the role

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Marion, VA. The position offers weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career with autonomy and support. Drivers will operate solo routes delivering to locations east of Kansas, handling 53' dry‑van, curtainside, and flatbed freight such as touch‑molding and building products. The role includes load securement (strap, bungee, tarp) and may require on‑site tarping.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight or assist with loading/unloading when required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test and background/motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification for the last 3 years).
• Pass a DOT physical and a Ryder road test.
• Provide a valid CDL with appropriate endorsements.
• Class A verifiable experience in a tractor‑trailer or comparable vehicle:
  • 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
  • 2 years experience within the past 5 years, OR
  • 5 years experience within the past 10 years.
• Must have at least 1 year of flatbed experience.
• Cannot have an auto‑restriction.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Additional screening may be required, including employment and education verification, motor‑vehicle records check, road test, and customer‑specific background requirements.

Pay

• Weekly base pay: $1,650.
• Solo miles pay: $0.55 – $0.62 per mile (2500 – 3000 miles per week).
• Solo stops pay: $19.05 per stop (3 – 7 stops per week).
• Safety bonus: $500 paid four times a year (each quarter).
• Sign‑on bonus: $1,500 at 30 days and $1,500 at 90 days.
• Loyalty bonus: $1,750 at 6 months and $1,750 at 1 year.

Schedule

• Paid training schedule: Sunday – Friday.
• Start time: AM dispatch (exact hour as assigned).
• Nights out: 4 – 5 times per week.
