About the role

Ryder is hiring a Class C Truck Driver in Romeoville, IL — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about. Deliver SOLO to Chicago and Suburban Area around Chicago, North Indiana. Route: Local Home Daily. Tractor Type: 26' Straight Truck. Able to Accept Automatic restriction. Equipment: Pallet Jack, Dolly and Lift Gate. Ryder will Train you on all equipment needed to be successful. Endorsements: Hazmat Required at Interview. Freight: Touch – HVAC.

Pay

  • Hourly Pay: $24.75 Per Hour
  • Paid Training
  • Start time: 5:30 AM
  • NO WEEKENDS

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Minimum of 6 months of verifiable driving experience
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Must have verifiable driving experience (*must be in like equipment if position being applied for is operating a straight truck or box truck):
    • 6 Months experience in the past 3 years, OR
    • 2 years' experience within the last 5 years, OR
    • 5 years' experience within the last 10 years
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures

Responsibilities

This position is primarily responsible for safely driving a vehicle within and requires compliance with safety regulations, continuous training and customer service.

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
  • Maintaining accurate records
  • Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
  • Other tasks as assigned
