About the Role
Drives gas or diesel powered trucks to perform pick-up and delivery tasks based on daily assignments from Dispatcher.
Responsibilities
- Drive trucks under 3,000 lbs. to destinations using maps and instructions.
- Operate vehicles on and off government installations in light to heavy traffic.
- Transport HAZMAT as required for depot missions.
- Inspect trucks for defects before and after trips.
- Monitor vehicle performance and report maintenance or repair needs to Dispatcher.
- Secure loads to ensure safe and undamaged arrival.
- Communicate via radio or cellular phone for directions and updates.
- Assist in loading and unloading transported materials.
- Perform daily preventive maintenance and adjustments on trucks.
- Complete other position-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum six months of general experience.
- Minimum six months of specific experience demonstrating required knowledge (may substitute one year of experience for one year of high school education).
- Must obtain and maintain a valid operator’s license for assigned equipment within 30 days of selection.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Must meet all Federal and State requirements for the role.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit; frequently required to climb or balance.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
- Requires close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Pay
Hourly rate: $20.36 (overtime-eligible). Additional health and welfare payment may apply per the Service Contract Act (SCA) based on hours worked and fringe benefits selected.
