Truck Driver II-Commissary Warehouse

About the Role

Exercise judgment to comply with instructions and established procedures while driving trucks for various departments.

Responsibilities

• Drive trucks for various departments including the Mail Room, Food Service, Physical Plant, Housing, and Food Services Maintenance Department.
• Deliver and pick up mail, materials, equipment, food, supplies, and tools.
• Maintain records of purchases, pick-ups, and deliveries.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Keep truck clean, report malfunctions, and ensure it is serviced when needed.
• Maintain work areas and vehicles in safe, sanitary, and efficient operating conditions.
• Remove trash to proper areas.
• Observe safety regulations and maintain high standards of sanitation.
• May assist in departmental operations when not driving, such as sorting mail, cleaning, sweeping, and acting as a helper.

Requirements

• High school education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year of experience in CDL driving.
• Valid CDL driver’s license.
• Ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.

Physical Requirements

• Standing 85% – 100% of the shift.
• Frequent bending at the waist; able to bend below the knee.
• Frequent stooping and/or crouching.
• Frequent walking between loading docks, stock rooms, plants, and warehouses while carrying items weighing up to 100 lbs.
• Frequent twisting and bending of the head, neck, and torso.
• Full range of arm movement (extension, twisting, bending of arm and shoulder, reaching overhead).
• Able to operate vehicles with manual transmission and get into/out of the truck cab unassisted.
• Frequently lift, load, and unload items weighing up to 100 lbs, including overhead lifting.
• Able to push and pull carts/pallets carrying up to 500 lbs.
• Wrist and finger dexterity (e.g., using box cutters, scissors, pens, fine motor and tactile skills, computers, and touch screens).
• May work in elevated heat, cold, or inclement weather conditions.
• Periodically work on ladders or at other elevated heights.

Tools/Equipment

• Operate trucks, vans, or pick-up trucks.
• Use hand trucks, carts, manual and mechanical lift trucks, and delivery vehicles.
• Use hand-held calculators and other related equipment.
