Truck Driver I

Job Summary

Responsible for operating trucks to transport a variety of products safely. Focuses on basic driving tasks, loading/unloading, and compliance with traffic laws. Handles special projects, as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate trucks to deliver products according to schedule.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections for safety.
• Maintain accurate driving logs and delivery documentation.
• Reads bill of lading to determine assignment and/or creates bill of lading and delivery ticket if needed.
• Inspections goods to be moved.
• May secure load to trailer wall using straps.
• Drives tractor-trailer combination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations, to transport and deliver products, maybe over long distance.
• Maneuvers truck into loading or unloading position, following signals from spotter as needed.
• Drives truck to weigh station before and after loading, and along route to document weight and conform to state regulations.
• Maintains driver log according to federal regulations.
• May work as member of two-person team driving tractor with sleeper bunk behind cab.
• Auxiliary duties include assisting in other maintenance or production areas as required.
• Loads bulk and flatbed trucks as required.
• Performs other duties assigned by management.

Credential Requirements

• Commercial Drivers License - Class A
• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Experience: 1 years of job-related experience. Experience with lowboy preferred.
• Knowledge of regulations for the transportation of products and materials being transported.
• Must be able to drive 18-speed standard transmission day cab with 40 flatbed trailers.

Additional Details

• Work schedule is typically Monday - Friday, 5:45AM-2PM, when not on the road.
• Travel is frequent, overnight stay is common.
• When hauling schedule could result in extended hours.
• Overtime is paid at time and a half beyond 40hrs in work week Monday - Sunday.
• Position is paid bi-weekly.
• Benefits eligible day one of hire.
