Truck Driver Hiker Vehicle Transporter CDL Part Time

About the role

Penske Truck Leasing seeks highly motivated and qualified applicants to fill the unique position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This casual/on‑call part‑time truck driving job is perfect for licensed CDL Class B or CDL Class A drivers seeking supplemental income, working anywhere from 0 to 25 hours a week based on business needs. The position is located at the Penske facility at 30 Fuller Road in Chicopee, MA.

Responsibilities

• Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske locations or customer locations.
• Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order and report issues to the location manager.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
• Assist the service department by delivering parts and equipment as needed.
• Perform other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• 2 years of driving experience required.
• 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record required.
• Valid Class B CDL required; Class A CDL preferred.
• Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Ability to work independently with strong customer service, organizational skills, and a positive attitude.
• English language proficiency to comply with federal law (49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)).
• Regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Maintain a current driver qualification file, including annual MVR check, DOT physical, safety performance history, and DOT drug screening within 30 days of start.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, complete Penske employment application, undergo background investigation and drug screening.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and maintain safety for self and others.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to see and hear, including close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Frequent movement, standing, walking, and sitting required.
• Use hands to touch, handle, feel, and reach with arms.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lb (23 kg); occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lb (45 kg).
• Legally operate a motor vehicle and safely enter/exit the vehicle and rear cargo area.

Pay

$20.75‑$20.25 per hour

Schedule

Casual/on‑call part‑time, 0–25 hours per week based on business needs.
