Truck Driver Helper_NE-TX_401-Thrift Store Department

About the role

This position assists the Truck Driver in the loading and unloading routine pickups and/or deliveries of material, donated or otherwise, to serve production needs of the store and/or general operation of the Corps.

Responsibilities

• Assists Truck Driver in lifting and stacking donations in the truck and unloading/loading truck.
• Prepares donation receipts for customers; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
• Maintains good relationships with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army.
• Places and arranges furniture, appliances, books, or other heavy items in the store as directed.
• Inspects donated items briefly to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures; explains policy to customers regarding the types of items that can be accepted.
• Assists in cleaning and maintaining the warehouse and loading dock area; picks up trash and debris surrounding the grounds as requested.
• Assists with placing items in the store as needed.
• Affords assistance to customers in carrying purchased/donated items in/out of the store.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Or G.E.D.
• Prior Experience Driving a Box Truck Preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Valid State Drivers License (preferred).

Additional Information

Work requires riding in a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
