Truck Driver, Heavy - CIF

Bowhead is seeking a full-time Heavy Truck Driver to support the Logistics Readiness Center (LRC) at Fort Jackson, SC. The role involves safely transporting passengers over designated routes, both locally and over longer distances. This is a Service Contract Act (SCA) position.

Responsibilities

• Transports, loads, unloads, stacks, and stages equipment
• Loads or unloads truck using forklift or other material handling equipment
• Reviews paperwork, conducts inventory, and ensures accuracy of load
• Completes vehicle utilization records, including miles operated, hours operated, and POL added
• Performs operator-level preventive maintenance, daily inspections, and minor servicing in accordance with established regulations and company policy
• Determines the safest and most practical routes while observing speed limits and traffic regulations
• Maintains required logs, inspection forms, and service documentation
• Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor

Requirements

• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement and other endorsements allowing operation of buses exceeding 26,000 pounds GVW and liquid transporters with a capacity of 1,000 gallons or more
• High school diploma or GED required
• At least four years of experience driving with a CDL preferred
• Familiarity with the military preferred but not required
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
• Failure to meet or maintain licensing requirements may result in disqualification from Heavy Truck Driver duties, reassignment if a qualified position is available, or separation from the contract in accordance with company policy and applicable law

Qualifications

• Frequently lifts items weighing up to 65 pounds independently and occasionally lifts up to 65 pounds with assistance
• Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for prolonged amounts of time
• Uses arms, hands, and fingers for pulling and positioning materials, sewing, and using tools such as shears
• Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust Level (NACI)
• US Citizenship required due to work location (Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations)

Pay

Targeted hourly rate: $25.35/hour (SCA position). Bowhead considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, and market and business considerations when extending an offer.
