Pay
- Hourly Pay: $29.50 per hour
- Hours Per Week: 45+ hours
- Per Diem Pay: $40.00 per night with 1-2 nights per week (overnights for route in Ryder-booked hotel)
- Loyalty Bonus: $5,000 ($2,500 at 6 months, $2,500 at 1 year)
- Paid Training
Schedule
- 4-day work week (Monday–Friday)
- Start Time: 4:00 AM – 6:30 AM
About the Role
- Route: Local/Regional (home daily)
- Delivery Area: Tennessee and Alabama
- Tractor Type: Straight Truck
- Trailer Type: 26' Straight Truck
- Equipment: Hand truck & Lift Gate (Ryder provides training)
- Freight: 100% touch (load/unload pet food)
- Endorsements: Air Brake required
- Trucks: Well-maintained, 36 months or newer with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at over 800 nationwide locations

Requirements
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check (including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
- Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test
- Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
- Class B verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle:
- 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
- 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
- 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
- Retail touch freight delivery experience required
- Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Some positions may require additional screening (employment/education verification, motor vehicle records, badging, or customer-specific background checks)
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules
- Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
- Maintain accurate records and logs
- Load/unload freight or assist in loading/unloading as required by customer
- Perform other duties as assigned
