Truck Driver CDL Class B

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance
• Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
• Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
• Collect and verify delivery instructions
• Report defects, accidents or violations
• Delivering merchandise via tractor-trailer
• Loading and unloading product
• Maintain daily log and keep all paperwork organized
• Attention to detail and ensuring all product is accounted for
• Filling up on fuel, and clean truck as required and needed
• Reporting to Traffic Manager any incidents encountered on or off the road
• Inspection of the trailer before and after the trip, and record any defects
• Keep their truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years experience driving as a CDL Class B driver
• CDL Class B driver’s license in good standing
• Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc.)
• Medical DOT Card must be up to date and active
• Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
• Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
• No recent moving or driving violations
• Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
• Flexible to support the need of the business
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow direction
• Must be self-motivated and a team-player with excellent interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous and respectful toward others
• Able to work with minimum supervision and recognize matters needing attention
