Truck Driver CDL Class A Solo

About the role

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver for solo runs from North Dakota to Texas and all states east, as well as into Canada. Drivers operate sleepers with APUs pulling dry van and Conestoga trailers, secure loads with strapping, and handle touch‑driver‑assist freight on dry van loads, primarily commercial and residential garage doors. The position offers a companion policy allowing a person and/or pet on the road, home‑weekly schedules, and well‑maintained trucks 36 months or newer with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at over 800 nationwide locations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
• Maintain accurate records and logs
• Load/unload freight or assist in loading/unloading when required by the customer
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide a valid Class A CDL with any required endorsements for the position
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures

Qualifications

• Class A verifiable experience in a tractor‑trailer or comparable vehicle: either 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years

Pay

• Average weekly pay: $1,950
• Safety bonus: $250 paid each quarter
• Sign‑on bonus: $1,500 after 30 days and an additional $1,500 after 90 days
• Paid training provided
