Truck Driver CDL Class A Solo

About the role

As a Solo Class A CDL Truck Driver you will deliver freight to OK, KS, MO, NE, and IA on a regional route. You will operate a Ryder‑provided sleeper tractor pulling a 48‑foot flatbed trailer, handling load‑securement only. Ryder supplies well‑maintained, safe trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at over 800 nationwide locations. You’ll enjoy autonomy on the road while receiving support behind the scenes, including Ryder’s purchase of owner‑operator trucks and ongoing career assistance. The team includes many military reservists and veterans, and your contributions are recognized and valued.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards, and guidelines
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
• Maintain accurate records and logs
• Load/unload freight or assist in loading/unloading freight when required by the customer
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor‑trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Some positions may require additional screening such as employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, and/or customer‑specific badging or background requirements

Pay

• $1,563 or more per week
• Solo Miles Pay: $0.70 per mile (≈2,000 miles per week)
• Solo Stops Pay: $28.75 per stop (5‑6 stops per week)
• Per Diem Pay: $40.00 per night (≈5 nights out per week)

Schedule

Schedule: Monday‑Friday or Sunday‑Thursday; Start Time: 5:00 AM – 6:00 AM.
