About the role

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Lavonia, GA, offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about. Drivers operate solo routes east of the Mississippi River on regional runs using sleeper tractors pulling 48' and 53' stepdeck flatbeds, primarily handling utility trailers that may require assembly and load securement. Ryder provides training on all needed equipment, maintains well‑serviced trucks with 24/7 roadside support and fueling at over 800 nationwide locations, and fosters a supportive environment that values autonomy on the road with behind‑the‑scenes backing, including a strong community of veterans and reservists.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
• Maintaining accurate records and logs
• Loading/unloading freight or assisting in loading/unloading if required by the customer
• Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
• Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor‑trailer or comparable vehicle: either 9 months within the past 3 years, OR 2 years within the last 5 years, OR 5 years within the last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures
• Some positions may require additional screening such as employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, and/or badging or background checks required by the customer

Pay

• Weekly pay: $1,600‑$1,800 or more
• Solo miles pay: $0.53 per mile (≈1,700‑2,000 miles per week)
• No‑touch stops pay: $28.00 per stop
• Touch stops pay: $67.00 per
