Truck Driver CDL A Regional Solo Hourly

About the role

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver based in Worcester, MA, offering regional solo runs across New England and the East Coast. Drivers operate well‑maintained trucks (36 months or newer) with 24/7 roadside support, hauling a variety of freight (touch and no‑touch) using flatbeds, dry vans, reefers, Conestogas, curtainsides, containers and equipment such as pallet jacks, lift gates, rollers or Moffetts. Ryder provides training on all required equipment and offers a supportive environment with referral bonuses, veteran‑friendly culture, and clear communication about pay, routes and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
• Maintain accurate records and logs
• Load/unload freight or assist in loading/unloading as required by the customer
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position

Qualifications

• Class A verifiable experience in a tractor‑trailer or comparable vehicle: either 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
• Willingness to obtain any required endorsements/certifications

Skills

• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures

Pay

• Base pay: $29.00 per hour
• Earn an additional $1.00 per hour for every 3 endorsements/certifications
• Overtime pay after 40 hours
• $50 per diem per night
• Paid weekly – consistent income
• Average earnings $2,000+ per week; top performers can earn $100K+ annually
• $1,000 Annual Tenure Bonus
