Truck Driver CDL A Part Time

About the Role

Ryder is hiring a part‑time Class A CDL Truck Driver in Lancaster, PA. The position offers local home‑daily routes within a 150‑mile radius, operating day‑cab tractors pulling 53‑foot dry vans for USPS tailgate deliveries. Drivers receive paid training, operate well‑maintained trucks (36 months or newer) with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at over 800 nationwide locations, and are equipped with pallet jacks and rolling carts.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
• Maintaining accurate records and logs
• Loading/unloading freight or assisting in loading/unloading as required by the customer
• Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide a valid Class A CDL with any required endorsements
• Class A verifiable experience in a tractor‑trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, OR 2 years within the last 5 years, OR 5 years within the last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures
• For this USPS account: successful completion of a secondary Federal Level 2 background screen conducted by the USPS
• Selective Service registration for males born after December 31, 1959 (unless legally exempt)
• Note: Some positions may require additional screening such as employment/education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, or customer‑specific badging/background requirements

Pay

$990 per week average (equivalent to $35.42 per hour) for an average of 28 hours per week. Paid training is included.
