Truck Driver CDL A Part Time

About the role

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Part‑Time Truck Driver in Lancaster, PA. Drivers operate solo within a 150‑mile radius, returning home daily, and handle US Mail tailgate deliveries using day‑cab tractors and 53‑foot dry‑van trailers. The position offers weekly pay, paid training, and the opportunity to work with well‑maintained, late‑model equipment supported by 24/7 roadside service and fueling at over 800 nationwide locations.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
• Maintaining accurate records and logs
• Loading/unloading freight or assisting in loading/unloading as required by the customer
• Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Hold a valid Class A CDL with any required endorsements
• Class A verifiable experience: 9 months within the past 3 years, OR 2 years within the last 5 years, OR 5 years within the last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures
• USPS‑specific: secondary background screen (Federal Level 2) and Selective Service registration for males born after Dec 31 1959 (unless exempt)

Average weekly pay: $990

Hourly rate: $35.42 per hour

Schedule

Average hours per week: 28 hours
