About the Role
Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Tonawanda, NY, offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about. This is a local, home-daily route delivering steel and metal freight with no weekends.
Pay
- Solo Miles Pay: $0.55 per mile with 1,500 miles per week
- Solo Stops Pay: $13.66 per stop with 50 stops per week
- Alro Tenure Bonus: $300 four times a year, every quarter
- Weekly pay starting at $1,508 or more
Schedule
- Monday – Friday
- Start time: 6:00 AM
- Home daily
Route & Equipment
- Main route: Elmira, NY
- Supporting areas: Western New York, Northern Pennsylvania (potential future routes to Canada)
- Tractor Type: Day Cab (automatic transmissions accepted)
- Trailer Type: Flatbed (48', 53')
- Freight: Steel and metal (load securement training provided)
- Trucks: Well-maintained, 36 months or newer with 24/7 roadside maintenance and nationwide fueling at over 800 locations
Passport or Enhanced License preferred.

Requirements
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
- Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test
- Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
- Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle:
- 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
- 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
- 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
- Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures

Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules
- Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
- Maintain accurate records and logs
- Load/unload freight or assist in loading/unloading as required by the customer
- Perform other duties as assigned
