Overview

Responsible for transporting several types of construction equipment and materials throughout and between jobsites.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload equipment and materials
  • Secure loads, is aware of load limits (weights)
  • Vehicle and equipment maintenance
  • Haul counterweights for cranes
  • Haul water, sand and gravel
  • Ensure safety procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Communicate equipment and material issues between the office/shop/jobsite
  • Daily inspection of truck
  • Obtain required permits
  • Maintain a safe driving record
  • Handle basic maintenance of the truck including filling tank with gas, checking oil, keeping it clean and making sure required inspections are performed
  • Advise Superintendent if trucks need major repairs and maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. One year certificate from college or technical school and/or one to two years related experience. Previous experience with transporting construction equipment and materials. Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License.

  • Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Working Environment

  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places and extreme heat
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud

Pay

$24.00-$28.00/hourly, commensurate with experience. Competitive pay with ongoing performance review and merit increase.
