Responsibilities
- Maintains truck log and driver log according to State and Federal regulations.
- Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water and submits report indicating truck condition.
- Maintains communication and dialogue with traffic coordinators regarding pickup and delivery instructions.
- Assists in loading and unloading of truck.
- Verifies Packing Slips and/or Bills of Lading to ensure they coincide with materials being delivered or picked up.
- Distributes signed Packing Slips or Bills of Lading to proper areas upon returning.
- Ensures all materials and/or containers are properly identified; refuses to haul unidentified materials or loads.
- Ensures all freight is properly secured to eliminate risk of damage during transit.
- Documents any signs of damage, potential damage, or discrepancies; refuses to transport improperly secured or packaged loads.
- Drives truck to appropriate destinations in a timely manner.
- Obtains or distributes appropriate documentation for materials picked up or dropped off.
- During non-driving periods, provides support to plant operations, including assisting with production, warehouse, and housekeeping activities as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have or be able to obtain the necessary driver’s license such as CDL.
- Forklift certified, or willingness to become certified.
- Proficient communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Pay
Starting pay rate of $23.00 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on candidate's qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.
