Truck Driver

Open to external candidates only. Shift determination will be made based on the priority of work at the time the selected candidate is cleared to report.

About the Role

The successful candidate will drive a variety of trucks, dump trucks, trailer vans, low-bed trailers, and others with load capacity up to 30 tons under general supervision, supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts at Arnold AFB, Tennessee.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of trucks, dump trucks, trailer vans, low-bed trailers, and others with load capacity of 30 tons
• Operate special purpose vehicles as required
• Tow heavy equipment
• Assist in and direct proper loading or unloading of a variety of shipments
• Assume responsibility of cargo, accomplish any tie downs as necessary
• Check items for correctness, and obtain signature of receiver at destination
• Ensure safety of passengers, cargo, and vehicle
• Schedule pickups and deliveries to conserve time and expenses
• Complete documents pertaining to pickup and delivery of cargo
• Keep vehicles in clean condition, make minor repairs, and report needed major repairs
• Operate vehicles in a safe and efficient manner
• When working with a composite crew, such as the furniture moving crew, assist laborers in carrying, loading, and unloading furniture and equipment
• Maintain DOT logbook or other records as required
• Adhere to all DOT rules and regulations
• Participate in functional specific safety training
• Obtain and maintain explosives certification when assigned to ordnance operations
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy
• Perform other duties as required

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Three years of progressive experience as a Truck Driver
• Valid State Class “A” Endorsement “X” Driver’s License
• Ability to read, write, and speak English well enough to understand, give, and take directions
• Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and the AEDC local area network access
• Current U.S. Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance
• Experience in refueling vehicles and equipment

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $34.28 - $38.08
