About the role

As part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings—which is backed by Berkshire Hathaway—you’ll drive a vehicle with a capacity greater than 26,000 GVW, transporting goods, packages, or equipment. The role involves loading and unloading the vehicle, operating under the direction of supervision and crane operators, and contributing to safe and efficient crane and rigging operations.

Responsibilities

• Aid in the assembly and disassembly of cranes and components under supervision
• Serve as the designated signalman to assist crane operators in attaching, lifting, moving, and setting loads
• Attach load-lifting devices to cranes and loads safely
• Ensure safety by following safe practices and utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Perform pre-trip inspections on trucks and trailers, including routine maintenance
• Drive long distances to deliver crane parts to job sites on time
• Load and unload cargo, refuel, and clean vehicles
• Report road incidents, mechanical issues, and accidents following company procedures
• Maintain an active log of hours and plan routes using GPS
• Inspect trucks, record issues, and report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel
• Mentor other drivers and crane helpers
• Maintain a positive attitude with customers and follow traffic laws
• Assist in job site cleanliness and housekeeping of mobile equipment

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL driver’s license (must keep it up to date)
• Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug and alcohol screen, and 7-year background check
• Flexible schedule with availability to work all days and times (company operates 24/7)
• Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of crane and rigging considerations (hitches, shackles, load angles, load weights, center of gravity, tag lines, etc.)
• Basic knowledge of crane assembly and disassembly
• Clean driving record
