About the Role
Serves as District attendance officer and Truancy Prevention Facilitator. Provides assistance to campuses in interpreting and enforcing compulsory attendance laws and resolving truancy, excessive absences, and tardiness infractions. Acts as District liaison to parents, law enforcement agencies, and judicial system officials.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and enforce state compulsory attendance laws.
- Resolve truancy, excessive absences, and tardiness infractions.
- Present truancy cases to the court.
- Serve as liaison between the District, parents, law enforcement, and judicial officials.
- Conduct home visits and visit sites where truant students have been reported.
- Develop databases and perform word processing tasks using a personal computer.
- Travel districtwide as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Two years of experience working in compliance, law enforcement, or with children or adults in a leadership role.
Skills
- Knowledge of state compulsory attendance laws.
- Knowledge of the juvenile justice system.
- Ability to interpret laws, policies, and procedures.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in operating personal computers for database development and word processing.
