Job Summary

The Training Officer 3 (Curriculum Designer) is responsible for developing, evaluating, and refining educational programs for employees and community stakeholders such as Foster Care and Kinship providers, to ensure they align with learning objectives, laws, policy, and best practices.

Job Duties

  • Plans, develops, and writes curriculum;
  • Evaluates, audits, revises, and updates training for DCS employees, community providers, and caregiver licensing agencies required by federal and state law and DCS policy and procedures for new and revised content;
  • Utilizes instructional design models along with curriculum-based knowledge to ensure the development of effective training materials;
  • Uses training technology to develop and deliver classroom and distance learning products;
  • Consults with training executive sponsors, requesters and subject matter experts at all levels of the organization to identify training needs and ensure training meets stated objectives;
  • Manages and gathers information from subject matter experts to create training; researches policies and procedures, legal requirements, agency programs, best methods and practices, and other information relating to assigned training projects;
  • Collaborates with managers, trainers, and staff to create impactful training programs;
  • Identifies and completes continuous learning to develop expertise in various subject areas to support initiatives effectively;
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts, internal and external to the agency to implement training;
  • Implements completed training curriculum, such as facilitator guides & participant workbooks, handbooks, manuals, training technology tools & other course materials, ensuring course materials are available for launch, communicating with stakeholders, and providing support following course launch;
  • Participates in pilot training activities, stays updated on new laws and social work practices, and adapts to ongoing technological changes in the state's information system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in curriculum design, adult education, public administration, or other acceptable field from an accredited college or university;
  • At least three years’ experience instructional systems design experience.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card;
  • Must be able to secure and maintain clearance from the DCS Central Registry;
  • Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintain valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.
