Trimmer Trainee

About the Role

Trim and remove trees, remove unwanted, diseased, or dying limbs on trees, or affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areas as a member of a tree crew. This role offers progressive learning opportunities to develop skills in tree pruning, removal, and related services.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees safely and skillfully.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services, including:
  • Tree identification and industry pruning guidelines.
  • Pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
  • Installing cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
  • Assisting in the removal of hazardous trees.
• Properly maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.

Requirements

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.

Qualifications

• Preferred background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.
