Tribal Relations/Cultural Resources Specialist 2

We'll count on you to:

• Lead and support Tribal consultation efforts in compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory frameworks.
• Prepare consultation documentation and track communications.
• Conduct proactive, non-regulatory engagement with Tribal Nations, Native groups, and Indigenous communities.
• Coordinate and facilitate Tribal participation in cultural resource surveys.
• Provide guidance to multidisciplinary project teams on Tribal concerns, cultural sensitivity, and consultation best practices.
• Identify opportunities for early engagement strategies to reduce project risk and improve outcomes.
• Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities to integrate Tribal collaboration into project pursuits.
• Prepare and review technical reports for compliance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan and implement cultural resources strategies incorporating Indigenous perspectives.
• Manage Tribal resource surveys from inception to completion and direct Tribal cultural specialists.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to participate in fieldwork, including walking over uneven terrain in varying weather conditions.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in person, by telephone, and email.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and the ability to operate a vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduate degree (M.A., M.S., or PhD) in Anthropology, Archaeology, Native American Studies, or a related field.
• Experience facilitating Tribal monitoring programs or ethnographic studies.
• Knowledge of regional Tribal histories and cultural landscapes.
• Previous experience working as a liaison or coordinator in cross-cultural settings.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History or closely related field.
• A minimum of 5 years experience in cultural resource projects.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with project compliance-related activities including consultation, quality assurance and reviews.
• Familiarity with field study design and documentation, regulatory framework for cultural resource management, and GIS utilities.
