Tribal Relations/Cultural Resources Specialist 2
We'll count on you to:
- Lead and support Tribal consultation efforts in compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory frameworks (e.g., NHPA Section 106, NEPA).
- Prepare and review technical reports for compliance (NRHP evaluations, survey reports, treatment plans, consultation summaries).
- Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities to integrate Tribal collaboration into project pursuits.
- Manage Tribal resource surveys from inception to completion and direct Tribal cultural specialists.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to participate in fieldwork, including walking over uneven terrain in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in person, by telephone, and email.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and the ability to operate a vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate degree (M.A., M.S., or PhD) in Anthropology, Archaeology, Native American Studies, or a related field.
- Experience facilitating Tribal monitoring programs or ethnographic studies.
- Knowledge of regional Tribal histories and cultural landscapes.
- Previous experience working as a liaison or coordinator in cross-cultural settings.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History or closely related field.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in cultural resource projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with project compliance-related activities including consultation, quality assurance and reviews.
- Willingness to work under varied weather conditions.
- Successful candidates must be familiar with field study design and documentation, regulatory framework for cultural resource management, and GIS utilities.
