Description

The Tribal Housing Pre-Development Fund is a grant opportunity designed to support activities related to affordable housing development. These activities include planning, infrastructure investments, site acquisition and preparation, and other associated costs. The primary goals are to assess community needs, develop project plans, and ensure that projects are responsive to community requirements.

  • Planning Activities: Community Needs Assessment, Feasibility Studies, Market Analyses, Environmental Assessments, etc.
  • Infrastructure Investments: Sewage and Drainage Infrastructure, Waste Management, Electric Utility, Broadband, and Renewable Energy Infrastructure.
  • Sustainable Transportation Investments: Road and Safety infrastructure.
  • Site Acquisition and Preparation: Site Appraisal and Acquisition, Site Preparation, including Surveying, Grading, and Mitigation, Architectural and Engineering costs, Ecological and Wildlife Restoration, and Disaster Preparedness.
  • Other Associated Costs: Legal Fees, Consultant Fees, Staff Development and Training, and Staff Salaries.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must be:

  • An Other Legal Entity
  • A Tribal Government
  • A TTHA (Tribally Designated Housing Entities)
  • A California Native American on the Native American Heritage Commission's Contact List
  • Within the boundaries of the State of California

Application Information

The deadline for submitting applications is August 11, 2026, at 5:00 PM. The grantor expects to announce the recipients in October 2026. The funds must be utilized within three years, and the total projected amount is $20,000,000. The funding method is Advances & Reimbursements.
