About the role
We are seeking a Trial Paralegal to join our Phoenix office. As a paralegal, you are a critical part of Dorsey’s client service teams, working side by side with lawyers, co-counsel, and clients on an array of substantive client matters.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with litigation processes from pre-trial through post-trial procedures, including document analysis, legal theories and strategies, factual and legal research, trial preparation and attendance.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of legal procedures, electronic discovery and document management, terminology, and activities to paralegal tasks.
- Manage large volumes of documents and data, working as a team with litigation support and data processing vendors and attorneys.
- Locate and review information applicable to a particular case, person, or subject through online research or document reviews.
- Review, organize, hyperlink and maintain document databases and spreadsheets for case tracking, discovery, and document production.
- Draft original correspondence and materials for communication under attorney’s signature.
- On a limited basis, draft original correspondence, within the ethical boundaries of a paralegal position, to various parties and clients for own signature.
- Communicate with clients, government agencies/officials, consultants and various other parties on a regular basis to collect and assemble information.
- Communicate findings to attorney; communicate as agent of attorney.
- Fact cite-check and proofread briefs and legal documents.
- Prepare, send and track subpoenas.
- Work effectively as a team with staff and attorneys to collaborate and provide exceptional and efficient client service.
- Organize, monitor, and maintain multiple projects, as needed.
- May perform other duties not listed above.
Requirements
- Significant experience handling cases involving large document sets.
- Experience working with litigation support software programs like NUIX, Relativity, Concordance, and Disco.
- Familiarity with AI review and AI litigation support systems.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate or equivalent experience.
- At least 3-5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to prioritize and exercise independent judgment.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a large volume of detailed tasks.
- Ability to work with all levels of personnel in a professional manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
- Proficiency with Excel spreadsheets and data manipulation.
- Experience with preparation related to hearings, depositions, trials, arbitrations and mediations.
- Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines both individually and in a team environment.
- Experience with bankruptcy court procedures is a plus.
