Triage Registered Nurse

Qualifications:

  • Current and unrestricted RN license in Massachusetts
  • Current BLS CPR certification
  • Minimum of one year of nursing experience, preferably in ER or outpatient triage setting

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality nursing care in collaboration with physicians and support staff
  • Culturally sensitive, with a strong interest in serving diverse patient populations
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, individuals seeking assistance, representatives of outside agencies, and the general public
  • Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and familiar with outpatient and ambulatory care best practices
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Flexible, professional, and reliable, with the ability to adapt to varying patient needs
  • Committed to patient-centered care, customer service, and ongoing professional growth
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish, Russian, or Vietnamese)

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Receives and responds to both telephone and in-person triage requests from patients
  • Conducts nursing assessments, exercises clinical judgment, answers health-related questions, provides patient education, and offers guidance following established clinical protocols and guidelines
  • Documents telephone triage, patient education, and patient instruction accurately and precisely within the electronic medical record
  • Schedules same-day and follow-up appointments with providers to support timely and coordinated patient care
  • Provides ongoing patient education, clinical assessment, and support to patients while working closely with medical providers to deliver coordinated, high-quality nursing care
  • Performs nurse visits as needed, providing clinical assessments, patient education, and nursing interventions following established protocols
  • Administers prescribed medications, vaccines, and treatments following approved clinical protocols and standards of nursing practice
  • Ensures accurate and timely documentation of all administrations in the electronic medical record
  • Serves as a resource for staff, offering clinical guidance, nursing support, and educational opportunities as appropriate to promote staff development and quality patient care

Working Conditions:

  • This position involves prolonged use of a telephone and extended periods of computer-based work at a workstation
  • It requires the ability to sit for long durations, with occasional standing and walking
  • May be required to lift and carry objects typically weighing between 5-20 pounds
