About the Role

The Triage Care Advisor Medical Assistant supports Bronson Medical Group primary care and specialty practices through triaging calls and coordinating care as needed. This role serves in an expanded healthcare capacity, collaborating with primary care practices, specialists, other healthcare team members, and patients/families to ensure the delivery of quality, efficient, and cost-effective healthcare services. The role follows evidence-based clinical guidelines, preventive guidelines, and protocols to coordinate care across acute and ambulatory practice settings and helps patients/families understand healthcare options.

Schedule

Part-time, 48 hours per pay period (24 scheduled weekly hours). Shift: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Must meet one of the following:
  • Successful completion of an accredited medical assistant program.
  • CMA/CCMA/RMA certified.
  • Meet eligibility requirements to take CMA/RMA and must obtain certification within 6 months of hire (eligibility determined by Vocational Coordinator).
• Two to five years of experience in a healthcare setting with adult and pediatric patients, such as primary care/ambulatory care, home health agency, skilled nursing facility, or hospital medical-surgical setting.
• Experience in ambulatory care, acute care, or post-acute care is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Utilize word processing, spreadsheet, presentation programs, databases, and other relevant software.
• Demonstrate customer-focused interpersonal skills to interact effectively with practitioners, patients, and families from diverse backgrounds.

• Apply knowledge of chronic conditions, evidence-based guidelines, prevention, wellness, health risk assessment, and patient education.
• Connect patients with Acute Care Managers and other resources as needed.
• Manage complex clinical issues utilizing assessment skills, resources, and protocols.
• Implement evidence-based interventions and protocols for chronic conditions.
• Adapt to the needs of the department.
• Understand health concerns or changes in health status and their impact on patients across all age ranges (neonate through geriatrics) for various medical specialties.
