About the role
The Trenchless Geotechnical Team Lead will report to the Trenchless Services Engineering Lead, contributing to the Trenchless Program by applying geologic information to engineering and design practices, leading geotechnical exploration campaigns, evaluating subsurface conditions, determining solutions for problematic geologic conditions, and integrating geotechnical data into project deliverables.
- Lead and generate geotechnical data reports and engineering reports.
- Support geotechnical data management using OpenGround and/or gINT software.
- Perform data management and quality control of geological data.
- Assess subsurface conditions and lead efforts to incorporate relevant geological and geotechnical data into critical design and construction decisions.
- Monitor and report on daily construction activities, interface with contractors, and communicate with clients and team members.
- Manage workload and delegate responsibilities to other geologists or geotechnical professionals.
- Lead and manage a team of geotechnical-focused individuals, providing mentorship and performance reviews.
- Plan, forecast resources, estimate costs, schedule, and manage risks for all geological and geotechnical initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Complete field work to direct and oversee subcontracted geotechnical drilling crews for exploratory campaigns.
- Perform field soil and rock logging and testing, collect geotechnical data, and coordinate laboratory programs.
- Analyze data and generate reports.
- Generate deliverables using gINT, OpenGround, ArcGIS Pro, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Support other business groups within HDR, including Trenchless services.
- Support Trenchless engineering, design, and field services efforts across all regions and business groups.
- Monitor and report on daily activities while in the field, run geological field tests, interpret lab test results, maintain field test equipment, and present field data.
- Advocate for geotechnical data analysis and ensure its incorporation into critical determinations during design and construction.

Qualifications
- Four-year degree with a concentration in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or other related field.
- Minimum of 7 years experience.
- Professional registration, license, or certification may be required based on role.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Good leadership and organizational skills.
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.
- Preferred qualifications include experience in OpenGround software, managing direct reports, managing subconsultants, and proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
