Treating Engineer 2 (2nd shift)

About the role

Stella-Jones is a leading manufacturer of essential infrastructure products focused on serving utilities and railroads, as well as supplying big box home improvement stores across North America. We are seeking a qualified Treating Engineer 2 for our 2nd shift operations in Cordele, GA. This role performs operational work related to daily work instructions, inspection, grading, treatment, and materials. The Treating Engineer 2 operates the treating plant safely and proficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate and control systems by prescribed operating procedures, including boiler and pressure vessels, vacuum and condensate recovery systems, preservative mix, transfer and storage systems, hazardous and solid waste processing and storage, charge transfer tables, and emergency response equipment.
• Perform all duties of inspector, machine operator, and laborer positions as required.
• Operate all aspects of treating at or above target production levels.
• Perform security duties.
• Participate and contribute to the company safety program.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One year of treating experience preferred; must have experience working with chemicals.
• Pesticide applicator’s license preferred; Boiler Operating License preferred, PIE Certified.

Skills

• Required plant safety orientation.
• Ability to pass the state pesticide certification exam.
• Respiratory training and pass the medical exam and fit test (clean shaved face may be required).
• Solid knowledge of all federal and state regulations related to the treating department.
• Solid knowledge of quality control standards related to the treating department.
• Solid knowledge of customer specifications.
• Complete all required “Continuous Education Units” to keep pesticide certification.
• Solid knowledge of hazardous waste regulations.
