Treasury Specialist
Ultium Cells is a joint venture lithium-ion automotive battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solutions and General Motors. This new, high-technology facility features the latest battery cell manufacturing technology and represents a more than $6 billion investment. The plant will be among the largest battery cell manufacturing plants globally, producing cells for General Motors’ North American electric vehicle applications.
About the role
The Financial Specialist collects and analyzes financial and operational data to assess business profitability, extracts relevant information, and translates complex datasets into actionable insights for continuous process and profitability improvements. This role involves daily communication with cross-functional teams and corporate headquarters.
Responsibilities
- Manage cash flow analysis and forecasting, bank accounts, and borrowing schedules.
- Execute daily, weekly, and monthly payments, closings, reconciliations, and foreign exchange trades.
- Research and resolve outstanding accounts payable payment issues; track payments and update daily bank balance information.
- Prepare and correspond HQ reports after daily and month-end closings.
- Communicate with commercial banks and maintain banking relationships.
- Update and maintain accurate banking information and documentation.
- Perform due diligence for borrowing and assist with documentation.
- Conduct variance analyses to provide timely financial recommendations to management and operations.
- Create one-time and recurring reports for internal use.
- Handle confidential information discreetly and professionally.
- Meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and contribute as an effective team member.
- Develop modeling tools to measure financial performance, identify improvement areas, and support strategic initiatives.
- Analyze trends in key performance indicators, including revenue, cost of sales, expenses, capital expenditures, product, and working capital.
- Assist in preparing forecasts in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Support departmental personnel with budget questions, expenditure coding, document processing, and other accounting-related activities.
- Compile and provide PBC information to internal and external auditors.
- Develop and document internal controls, including flowcharts and Risk Control Matrices (RCM), to ensure robust processes.
- Execute control testing by collecting and reviewing samples to assess design and operational effectiveness; update RCM as needed.
- Conduct operational control testing to verify effectiveness of control measures.
- Train department personnel on internal control procedures and RCM practices.
- Oversee monthly financial close processes, reviewing key accounts for accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage and review long-term accounts and inventory processes to support accurate reporting and compliance.
- Support fixed asset management, including registration and issue resolution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Experience in accounting, corporate finance, and/or financial analysis preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, financial modeling, and reporting abilities.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Bilingual in English and Korean.
- Must be able to speak and read English.
- Knowledge of the manufacturing industry is a plus.
- SAP experience preferred.
