Treasury Analyst
About the role
The Treasury Analyst reports to the University’s Treasury Manager and plays a crucial role in supporting the Treasury Department. This position provides financial information through interpretation, research, analysis, reporting, and reconciliation of data. The Analyst assists in guiding University and unit leadership with informed decision-making and ensures compliance with university policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Financial Analysis and Reporting: Analyzes and synthesizes information to design and create accurate and timely reports on University and Treasury operations, including the daily cash position, reporting to the Investments Office, and analyzing reports for fraud.
Financial Methods & Systems: Contributes to the planning and improvement of practices, processes, and systems, including policies and procedures related to Treasury, banking systems, and Workday. Collaborates with internal and external contacts to achieve departmental goals.
Accounting and Reconciliation: Accurately records enterprise or subsystem transactions and verifies other entries to ensure accuracy of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial activities. Performs complex multi-system reconciliations and navigates through multiple complex systems and reporting tools to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Strategic Resource: Translates department finance goals into objectives. Identifies and raises potential financial opportunities, issues, risks, ideas, and solutions. Develops process improvements to reduce risk and identifies appropriate stakeholders for consultations, communications, approvals, or buy-ins.
Compliance and Risk Management: Establishes, implements, and maintains strong internal controls to provide reasonable assurance of effective and appropriate resources use, accurate financial information, and adherence to contractual obligations and agreements, policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirements. Ensures compliance with Federal and State regulations related to banking, wire transfers, foreign currency, and credit card processing.
In Support of and/or in the Absence of the Treasury Manager: Leads, mentors, trains, schedules, and monitors performance and punctuality of staff. Ensures continuity of daily tasks and manages security, access, and fire systems.
Requirements
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or Finance and four years of related experience including direct cash handling, cash management, and supervisory experience.
