This position is remote, requiring 100% travel. With travel, overtime, and other supplemental earnings, resource technicians may have the ability to earn over $100,000 per year.

About the role

Join our Resource Team to travel to our sites across North America and grow and train with the best in the wind industry. The resource department supports service sites and construction projects with technicians and field support personnel, providing Vestas-trained and qualified technicians as well as contractor personnel as requested by operations service and construction. This group is key to executing construction projects and service plans by moving resources where they are needed on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Travel 100% of the time and work overtime, including a variable work schedule as needed to meet business goals
  • Act as a safety role model, encourage and recognize safe acts, and intervene when unsafe acts are practiced; adhere to all safety standards and procedures
  • Identify gaps in safety standards and risks in the environment, implement risk mitigation, and provide recommendations to higher-level technical staff and management
  • Demonstrate and promote integrity, professional initiative, and a no-compromise focus on safety and quality of work; assist with or perform basic quality audits
  • Perform intermediate-level wind turbine maintenance and installation tasks, including proficient use of tools (e.g., specialized calibration, hydraulic, power tools) and basic turbine equipment
  • Document tasks where required and enter data into company systems, such as SAP
  • Gather information regarding turbine performance/issues; diagnose, recommend, and implement solutions for intermediate routine issues; seek assistance for issues outside trained skill level
  • Follow a structured problem-solving process for troubleshooting and diagnostic tasks, including the use of diagnostic tools (e.g., basic Fluke meter functions, hydraulic pressure gauge)
  • Initiate and perform most work tasks with limited supervision, following defined instructions and maintenance schedules
  • Promote a healthy team environment by assisting teammates, mentoring lower-level technical staff, and supporting change initiatives
  • Interface with customers, respond to inquiries, and refer complex issues to higher-level technical staff or management; demonstrate professional customer focus at all times

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Post-high school education (e.g., wind school, trade school, college) or a minimum of two years of wind industry experience, including electrical experience and the ability to read electrical drawings (preferred)
  • Proven use and understanding of intermediate-level power tools such as hydraulic, power torque, and diagnostic tools (e.g., Fluke meter functions, hydraulic pressure gauge)
  • Intermediate working knowledge of industrial safety practices/protocols (e.g., Confined Space, energy isolation) and ability to complete detailed component inspections and report findings
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain a Passport
  • Significant attention to detail, strong interpersonal and customer relation skills, and ability to collaborate effectively with employees at all levels
  • Basic computer operation skills, familiarity with internet-based program navigation, and ability to generate and interpret computer data
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand drawings and schematics to validate work activity and mitigate risks

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders 60–125 meters in height, lift/push/pull/carry items up to 50 lbs, and stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods
  • Ability to grip and manually manipulate tools and turbine parts, often with repetitive motion, and comfort working in confined spaces and at heights over 100 meters
  • Ability to effectively participate in all training courses, including high-angle rescue
  • Periodic walking, ability to hear and use close-range radios, and efficient field of vision including visual depth perception and ability to distinguish colors
  • Able to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions
  • Comfort working remotely with limited supervisory interaction
