About the role

The Traveling Superintendent (Grocery) at Engineered Structures, Inc. oversees construction sites and projects, ensuring safety, adherence to budget, timely completion, alignment with quality standards, effective communication, and customer satisfaction. They collaborate with project managers and stakeholders, organize resources, manage teams, enforce safety and quality control, monitor budgets, generate reports, and address issues.

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Scheduling
    • Create detailed short interval project schedules and plans to ensure timely completion of milestones.
    • Organize and coordinate resources, materials, and subcontractors to meet project milestones.
    • Participate in Owner, Architect, and Contractor meetings and keep Owner/Owner representatives updated on schedule changes.
  • On-Site Supervision
    • Oversee and direct construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications.
    • Manage and supervise a team of construction workers, subcontractors, and other personnel.
    • Provide guidance and support to the workforce to ensure efficient and safe work practices.
  • Safety and Quality Control
    • Communicate expectations, enforce policies, and complete/submit records.
    • Develop/modify JHA’s for the project and provide JHA training.
    • Identify training needs and communicate with the Safety Team.
    • Conduct work area inspections and weekly safety meetings.
    • Maintain quality standards for all construction activities, materials, and workmanship.
  • Budget and Cost Management
    • Monitor project budgets and expenses, ensuring the project stays within allocated financial limits.
    • Identify potential cost-saving measures without compromising safety, quality, and project scope.
  • Reporting and Documentation
    • Generate regular progress reports and communicate updates to project stakeholders.
    • Keep detailed records of all construction activities, changes, and project-related documentation.
  • Problem Solving
    • Address and resolve issues or challenges promptly.
    • Proactively identify potential roadblocks and work on preventive measures.
  • Compliance and Permits
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, regulations, and permits.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience:
    • A High School Diploma or GED.
    • A bachelor’s degree in construction management, or a related field, is preferred but not required.
    • 3-5 years’ Construction Superintendent experience is preferred but not required.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Comprehensive understanding of plans, specifications, and building codes.
    • Computer Skills – Email, Daily Reports, Timecards, Microsoft Office, Scheduling Software.
    • Experience operating Fork/Boom/Scissor Lift.
    • Experience with Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, & Microsoft Suite products is preferred but not required.
  • Interpersonal Skills:
    • Effective and professional communication and interaction with supervisors, employees, and others.
    • Adherence to safety protocols and the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Certifications:
    • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
    • First Aid, CPR, and Respirator Training.
