Traveling Superintendent, Construction

About the Role
As a key leader at ARCO, you will manage construction and administrative activities from day one, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to specifications. This is a long-term career opportunity for an experienced professional who prefers working outside the trailer and leading field operations.
Responsibilities
- Attend post-award review meetings to gather project details for preplanning prior to construction.
- Collaborate with the project manager to prepare construction schedules, organizational structures, staffing plans, and equipment requirements.
- Direct and control the entire construction project to meet specifications, timelines, and profit expectations.
- Assist the project manager/engineer with duties such as material shipments, approvals for shop drawings, and material samples.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities to align with project schedules and progress.
- Communicate construction schedule changes promptly to supervisors and subcontractors.
- Assist in preparing job progress and cost reports to reflect actual expenses accurately.
- Review and approve requisitions, field purchase orders, invoices, and other significant documents.
- Maintain open communication with owners and their representatives regarding construction progress.
- Foster cooperative relationships with architects and owner representatives while prioritizing company interests.
- Conduct jobsite meetings with the project manager and regional manager.
- Provide regular updates to the project manager on progress, plans, and potential cost/schedule impacts.
- Maintain a daily diary to document project facts, events, conditions, visitor logs, and approvals.
- Enforce adherence to the company’s safety program across all project phases and areas.
Requirements
- 5–25 years of construction experience, with at least 5 years as a Lead Superintendent.
- Ground-up commercial or industrial construction experience required.
- Pre-cast or tilt-up construction experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to travel nationwide, though most projects will be in the greater NYC area.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and project scheduling software.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license in your state of residence.
