Traveling Shop Technician

About the role

EquipmentShare is hiring a Traveling Technician (Mechanic) for the Pittsburgh, PA region. The role involves providing maintenance and repair for a variety of customer‑owned and company‑owned heavy equipment, machinery, and aerial lifts. Technicians will work on the newest equipment in the industry while supporting the company’s mission to transform construction through innovative technology and real‑time support.

Primary Responsibilities

• Travel and support branches within the assigned region by performing on‑site equipment service, maintenance, and repairs.
• Address hard and soft down equipment, conduct machine inspections, and prepare units for use.
• Work closely with customers, troubleshoot issues using real‑time diagnostic tools, and apply electrical and hydraulic expertise to identify and resolve problems efficiently.
• Practice safe job practices for repairing equipment.
• Use technology (laptops, tablets, and mobile phone) comfortably.
• Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools (pneumatic tools, material lifts, chain hoists, core drills, welders, pipe threaders, small engines) under supervision of higher‑tier technicians while exercising independent judgment.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis.
• Assist with pick‑up and delivery of equipment & parts.
• Be knowledgeable of OSHA requirements (preferred).
• Year‑round company‑provided OEM training.
• Other duties as assigned.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with overtime pay after 40 hours. On‑call during weekends only in special circumstances.

Skills & Qualifications

• Must own tools applicable to the position.
• Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of hand and power tools, schematics, and diagrams.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Active applicable state class driver’s license.
• Construction knowledge and background preferred.
• Must be able to move, stand, stoop, and bend freely.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Safety‑sensitive position; employment contingent on passing a 10‑panel drug screen.
