About the role
The Traveling Safety Trainer at KNAPP is responsible for managing, maintaining, and continuously improving the OH&S management system in compliance with ISO 45001:2018. This role involves coordinating and supporting all areas and departments of Knapp Inc. in meeting OSHA regulations, ISO 45001:2018 requirements, and raising awareness of health and safety processes.
Responsibilities
- Audit relevant KUS sites and provide feedback to improve transparency, understanding, and management of OHS issues.
- Assist with the implementation of safety management systems at all new and existing Resident Business sites.
- Provide training, mentoring, and guidance as applicable.
- Engage in the development of any KUS OHS software-based support and report tools for OHS management.
- Oversee the planning and management of KUS OHS initiatives in all business facets, including residential services and integrated solutions business compliance systems.
- Develop and implement strategic objectives for OHS practice that are aligned with the initiatives of KAG OHS departments.
- Ensure engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures take place for all KUS engagements.
- Consult and mentor the Safety Coordinator with regards to OH&S system implementation and training at all Resident sites.
- Identify proactive solutions to satisfy needs for KUS and our customers.
- Review OHS deliverables across KUS and collaborate with KAG OHS manager.
- Develop, implement, and maintain sound business practices to ensure OHS is promoted and delivered adequately.
- Develop and implement training programs for all OH&S topics, including actions and process(es) needed to determine, and address risks and opportunities to the extent necessary to carry them out as planned.
- Establish, implement, and maintain processes for consultation and participation of employees at all applicable levels and functions, in the development, planning, implementation, performance evaluation and actions for improvement of the OH&S management system.
- Maintain and control all documented information pertaining to OHSMS.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.
- Ensure KAG is well informed of changes and news-worthy events within the area of OHS-KUS.
- Effectively communicate relevant service-related information to line managers.
- Provide direction in best value services for OHS.
- Regularly meet with all KUS Resident managers to ensure compliance to standards in OHS and ISO 45001, both at a local and a corporate level.
- Continuously demonstrate ability to raise awareness of the health and safety processes to KUS employees and other interested parties.
- Manage the development in OHS of the subsidiary service managers and senior managers.
- Assign tasks to subsidiary management to ensure compliance of Open Item Lists (OIL).
- Provide expertise to internal teams.
- Enforce standard OHS company policies and procedures.
- Highlight and communicate resulting controls arising from accident investigation to all areas of KUS.
Requirements
- OSHA 500 (Construction) and/or OSHA 501 (General Industry).
- OSHA 30 may be considered if a demonstrable history of successfully working within the OHS environment is provided.
- Must retain ISO 45001 Internal Auditor certification.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, ANSI standards, and other applicable safety laws.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Learning Management Systems.
- Ability to analyze safety data and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Working Conditions and Environment: Overtime as required by work. Professional office etiquette is required at all times. Physical requirements may include sitting, stooping, bending, visual acuity, finger dexterity, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds.
