Traveling Project Engineer
About the Role
VCC is seeking a Traveling Project Engineer who will play a critical role in bringing projects to life—from initial planning through final delivery. This position offers exposure to every phase of the construction process, providing a foundation to grow into senior engineering or project management roles. The Project Engineering Department focuses on expediting materials to the jobsite at the required time, working with the design team to obtain all required materials approvals, including shop drawings, product data, and test results. Project engineering is involved from project start-up to completion, including deliveries, operations, communications, documentation, scheduling, and maintaining closeout requirements.

Responsibilities
- Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for project correspondence, shop drawings, submittals, coordination, and expediting materials within the assigned area.
- Develops and maintains an expediting schedule and list of material procurement for the assigned project.
- Maintains a record set of construction documents to ensure Subcontractors, Suppliers, and all site personnel have the most current drawings.
- Assists the Project Superintendent in maintaining "as-built" drawings.
- Provides reports on the status of project milestones and verifies that all Suppliers can meet project delivery dates.
- Manages delivery of all Subcontractor and Supplier materials to the project.
- Ensures material received is of the correct quantity and quality and conforms to contract documents and approved shop drawings.
- Assists Field personnel in interpreting drawings, specifications, Requests for Information, and questions for and from the Architect/Engineer.
- Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
- Evaluates design changes, specifications, and drawing releases, and reviews changes with the Project Superintendent.
- Prepares interim and completion project reports.
- Provides status and progress reports to customers, project teams, and management.
- For projects requiring multiple Project Engineers, may mentor/manage other Project Engineers and provide advice as a Senior Project Engineer.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Construction Management, Architectural, or Engineering Degree from a 4-year college.
- Highly motivated with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Willingness to travel and relocate from project to project (living expenses paid).
Skills
- Bluebeam, Revit, and Navisworks software experience (a plus).
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction documents.
